Volunteering

Hello my name is Kathryn and I am the Group Organiser for RDA Westmorland Group.

One of the many enjoyable parts of my role is to recruit new volunteers to help with our riding and driving sessions; so if this interests you please read on.

Westmorland RDA provides opportunities for people with disabilities to experience and learn how to ride and carriage drive.

Volunteers can learn a new skill, utilise an existing one and become part of an enthusiastic team of people who want to help others and be around horses.
The rewards are huge for rider, driver and volunteer as we share in each others achievements.

contacts1We need volunteers to help with:

Grooming, tacking up and harnessing the ponies
Setting up equipment
Leading ponies
Side-walking (assisting) the rider or driver
Hat fitting, tea and coffee making, collecting monies
Summer school and stable days.

We meet on Monday afternoon during term time for riding sessions and on Thursday mornings for carriage driving sessions, both in the Kendal area.

Full training is provided.

If you would like to arrange a ‘taster’ visit please contact me.

Thank you and we look forward to welcoming you.
